Audi put the I-5 in the S5 already!!

That engine deserves to not be in a fancied up golf and have real Quattro behind it.

An actual production Quattro isn't going to happen at this point, I can live with that. But that 2.5l I5 putting out 362hp & 343lb-ft seems infinitely cooler to me then the 3l V6 making 333hp & 325lb-ft.

Could do it as a limited edition with RS body work, but call it a "S5 Plus" or "S5 Quattro". Come on Audi it wouldn't cost that much to make it and it'd be perfect. Quattro graphic would also add 1000 cool points.

While I agree that the I5 would be cool, I would prefer that they bring back the 4.2 from the early S5.

You can still get that in the RS model though …. and in RS form it rightly makes over 100hp per liter.

As quirky and alternative and Jalop as the I5 is, we don't need even smaller engines in bigger cars, we need bigger engines in smaller cars. The 2.5 is great for the TT and RS3, but the S5 is a 4000 pound coupe.

The supercharged 3.0 is a fantastic engine stuck in a too-big car, so I think they should put it in the (B5-sized) S3. Then make a coupe out of the S3, like a downsized S5, and put the 2.5T in that.

First off since when is a A5 too big? Its a "compact executive coupé". I don't see why the engine's size matters though, when it makes more HP and torque. Its a good engine stuck in fancy Golfs. On that topic, a S3 coupe would be the TT, they're both Golf based.

The AWD S5 weighs 3900 pounds. Heavy for a midsize sedan, much less a "compact" coupe. I'm much rather see something like the RS7's TT 4.0 in a car that hefty, and use the 2.5T to fling around true compacts.

Alternately, they can just give us the RS3 (4 or 5 door) here in the US, as a spiritual successor to the B5 S4.

Well Audi loves to not give us all of their RS models. But I still stand by the 2.5 being a sweet engine for the S5, but its also a moot point to argue because its not going to happen.
